Sports & Business Youth Coalition
The Sports & Business for Youth Coalition (SBYC) is a program partnership between YBA and Home Field Advantage, hosted at Animo Compton. We train high school students to coach K-8 students' sports. In addition, YBA provides weekly guest speakers who work in the sports industry. In the past, we've had speakers from ESPN, the LA Rams, and the SCGA Junior Golf Foundation. The program aims to support students interested in sports-related careers.
-
Youth Tax Literacy
Youth Business Alliance (YBA), in collaboration with Haven Neighborhood Services (HNS), created a tax literacy and preparation program to serve more low- and moderate-income (LMI) high school students across South Los Angeles. The program equips students with essential financial knowledge and IRS-certified tax preparation skills, while empowering them to provide free tax assistance at VITA sites in their communities. In the pilot year, students returned over $100,000 back to their communites and developed real-world skills.

Work-Based Learning
Work-Based Learning is a career mentoring activity in which a student is matched in small groups with an adult professional to explore potential careers and related educational issues. The career mentor serves as a resource by sharing insights and providing guidance about the workplace, careers, and postsecondary education/training. This is accomplished through formal and informal meetings organized at the school, in the workplace, or online.
