Dr. Niren Shah graduated with a Doctorate in Pharmacy from the University of Florida, College of Pharmacy. He subsequently completed a 2-year fellowship at East Coast Institute for Research, a highly academic start-up company recognized as a premier fast-growth facility. During this time, he was jointly appointed as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Florida where he was a lecturer and preceptor to pharmacy students. Upon graduating from his fellowship, Niren became one of the youngest Regional Scientific Managers at Novartis Pharmaceuticals since the role’s inception. His current role as a Senior Medical Scientist at Shire Pharmaceuticals (formerly NPS Pharmaceuticals prior to a $5.2 BN buyout) allows him to develop and market drugs for rare, orphan diseases.

His therapeutic expertise spans a broad range of disease states and he currently holds experience in respiratory, cardiology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, plastic surgery, and women’s health. He is the author of a book chapter and several peer-reviewed publications as well as a scientific reviewer for both medical and pharmacy journals. Niren has gained extensive research experience through his engagement as a Principal Investigator and Sub-Investigator on numerous cardiology, endocrinology, and gastroenterology phase II-IV clinical trials. He has lectured on a number of topics nationally and has been invited to speak internationally at medical congress meetings and advisory boards for pharmaceutical companies. He has been an advisor or consultant for several pharmaceutical companies including: Astra Zeneca, United Therapeutics, Medicis, Novartis, Otsuka, and Janssen.

Niren has also been active in the business circuit. His first restaurant was the recipient of numerous awards including Best of Jacksonville multiple years in a row and appeared on CNBC. In 2015, Niren bundled and sold his first two restaurants. He has served on the Board of Advisors for various companies spanning different retail industries and is currently advising for Barracuda Luggage to ensure their commercial, fundraising, and distribution successes. In his spare time, he enjoys working on his inventions, one of which will provide a safer alternative for feeding infants and the other that prevents staling in drink containers. Niren’s goals include improving the lives of millions of patients and being an innovator by way of marrying his scientific and business backgrounds.
