Biography
Maurice Joseph Jordan

Maurice J. Jordan was raised in the historic city of Boston, Massachusetts. He was an honor student at the City of Boston School of Culinary Arts and received additional training and polishing from the internationally renowned John Roberts Powers School of Executive Grooming. His initial contributions were made at the famed Café L’Orange in Concord Massachusetts, then moving to Saute’Cook at Locke-Ober Company on Winter Place, in the City of Boston. After gaining significant experience, Chef Maurice moved to Boston’s world-renowned Union Oyster House, established in 1826. Here, he tested and enhanced his workmanship.

Appointed by the Regional Vice President of Food & Beverage, Chef Maurice started his career with the Marriott Corporation in 1980. His first Marriott Hotel was in Northern California’s Santa Clara Marriott. By 1981, he joined the Marriott staff in Lahaina, Hawaii for the grand opening of the Maui Marriott. Once there, Chef Maurice became a significant part of the Food & Beverage staff at the Maui Marriott, making culinary contributions to the fine food on the Maui menu.

Chef Maurice continued to refine his talents, and in 1985, as a member of the American Culinary Federation, participated in the food show of the Maui Chefs and Cooks Association. Joining yet another grand opening team, Chef Maurice then moved to the La Jolla Marriott, where as Sous Chef and Banquet Chef, his outstanding performance was consistently rewarded.

In late 1987, Chef Maurice joined another fine Marriott Hotel at the celebrated Marriott’s Desert Springs in Palm Desert, California. There, Chef Maurice continued to participate and cultivate his talents by becoming a participating member in the Chefs de Cuisine of Palm Springs.

In 1990, as Sous Chef, Maurice came to the uniquely appointed Yosemite Marriott, high in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. After eighteen months and two Chefs, the hotel was left without an Executive Chef. Chef Maurice was called upon to fill the vacancy, becoming the first Chef to meet budget in both Food and Labor costs.

In 1993, Chef Maurice started his own adventure into the business world by becoming Oakhurst’s Private Home Chef, serving in the Sierras; from Fresno to Yosemite Park; from Northfork to Mariposa, cooking the most exciting of menus for Home and Business owners ranging from a couple to 150 people at a ground-breaking ceremony.
In 1994, Chef Maurice was made an offer he couldn’t refuse – opening an Italian restaurant in Oakhurst, Gianna’s Italian Restaurant. However, the challenge was to last only one year.

While continuing his own business as a Private Home Chef, in 1996 Maurice was to join yet another class of world famous restaurants, Andersen’s Pea Soup Restaurant located in the heart of San Joaquin Valley in Selma, California, the raisin capital of the world. This was a time of great challenge. With Andersen’s being open only a year, they needed a Chef to help get the staff trained and bring food and wage costs in line. Chef Maurice was given that opportunity and within 14 months the job was finished.

Chef Maurice moved on to the Delaware North Company, as the Executive Chef at the Wawona Hotel in Yosemite National Park. Ten months into the Wawona Hotel, the kitchen was shut down for winter remodeling. This gave Maurice the opportunity to travel to Florida and the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex. The focus at the Space Center was to help Delaware North and Executive Chef Pascal Beaute develop a Banquet Department to produce the quality of service N.A.S.A. and Delaware North would expect. Maurice would also be of service to those at the center such as Bruce Willis, Ben Affleck for the Premier movie of Armageddon, Astronauts, Story Musgrave, Gene Cernan, and Buzz Aldrin, JFK Jr.

The opportunity for Chef Maurice grew when he was sent to Roaring River State Park in Cassville, Missouri. Delaware North, in partnership with the state of Missouri, built a 26-room luxury inn along with their existing 26 cabins. Roaring River, once known for its Fly Fishing, is now becoming known for many other things, including Hiking Trails, Horse Trails, Eagle Viewing, and now Roaring River Inn and Conference with the Tree Top Grill.

In the fall of 1999, Maurice received a phone call from the Executive Chef at the Hillcrest Country Club in Los Angeles California.
Maurice was not only willing but ready to go back to California and join forces with Executive Chef Bryan Cox.

Not only was going back to California a professional move but, Maurice would be teamed up with a Chef he had worked with at several Marriott Hotels, which include,
The Santa Clara Marriott in CA… The Maui Marriott, HI. The J.W. Dessert Springs Marriott in Palm Dessert CA.

It would be here that Maurice J. Jordan would end his wondrous endeavors as Chef with the exception of one year at the University College at Los Angeles (UCLA) to begin a new life in a new Profession with much, much praise for all those that helped him and times carried him throughout his Culinary Adventure…

A New Career

For the last 5 years of his career Maurice planned to start over in a new Profession. The profession he chose would be Real Estate. Maurice started off with pretty much the same way he ended his Culinary Adventure; working for a well established Real Estate Brand name “Re/Max”.

It was 2004 when Maurice achieved his Sales Person license and immediately went to work with Mr. Ziv Kozaski at Re/Max Commercial R.E. in Sherman Oaks CA.

Ziv Kozaski being a up and coming legend in his own rights taught Maurice what he would need to know to become the Agent he just may be destining to become.

Commercial Real Estate would be challenging as well as demanding as any new job would be but, as Maurice has done in the past he continued to do now which is to take those challenges and turn them into what will become his New Profession.

After 18 Months with Re/Max Commercial Maurice took to moving “again” to improve his skills this time it would be a move to Las Vegas, Nevada.

Two months later he would get his NV. Real Estate Sales license and join with another “Brand Name” in the industry “Coldwell Banker” “Premier Realty” with Broker Mr. Bob Hamrick. & Mr. Terry O’Donnell, Office Manager.

While working diligently to sell homes and observe what the business is all about Maurice would once again pack up (after approximately one year) and head back to (you guessed it) California, Los Angeles.

Looking for a place to live “again” can be rewarding and this time Maurice found a 130-unit apt building in which he would become the Assistant Manager and thus learn the aspects of Property Management. While working as a Property Manager Maurice put his license with Coldwell Banker Wilshire Properties in Koreatown, Los Angeles and continued to practice his Commercial Real Estate with Robin Yi & Choong Hoong Oh (Ryan Oh) Brokers of the firm aka Wilshire Equity Partners Group.

Maurice was called in by Robin Yi to be offered the Position of General Manager, a position in which was not on his plate (no pun intended) to ever becoming in Real Estate.
But inspired by Robin and Ryan to use all the Managerial experience from his past career and the knowledge gained in Commercial and Residential real estate, and a bit of Property Management Maurice took the position and as seems to be a pattern found him self with another great Company with Great People to work with and be around.
Only Fourteen months as General Manager is when Maurice would advance his career by studying, working and getting his Brokers License.
After managing the Commercial and Residential offices for three years it was time for Maurice to move on to better his education and success in Commercial Real Estate going back to Sales.
On January 20th, 2011 Maurice joined another well-known company in the world of Commercial Real Estate. NAI Capital Commercial R/E in Encino CA.
And joining a team led by Ziv Kozaski making a full circle back to his first Mentor in the field of Real Estate.

Realizing that opportunity may be more of abundance Maurice moved back to Coldwell Banker in Santa Monica where he could practice both Commercial and Residential Real Estate As well as diving into Property Management for SNT Properties for the past 3 years with 6 building/71 units.
