Entrepreneur-turned-Data Scientist - After graduating with a B.A. in Political Science and French from Bates College (Lewiston, Maine) in 2009 , Ru started her first job as a grassroots canvassing director in Manhattan where her office fundraised over $1,000,000 going door-to-door to build support for human rights and environmental issues in the public interest. California was calling, so she move to LA in 2010, starting her career in tech as the Creative Director for MagTek, Inc.. In 2016, she quit the corporate world to start her own marketing and video production agency (Kinetik LA) with a friend, helping businesses develop their brand, build websites, and produce videos including the entire production and marketing of an 8-episode documentary series and a 21-hour online yoga series, among many other projects. In the spring of 2020, Ru graduated from one of the top data science bootcamps in the country (Flatiron School) and is now making the shift into full-time programming as a data scientist and software engineer writing machine learning algorithms and developing AI-based software. Her focus for this next part of her career is to help solve some of the world's pressing challenges in aerospace, cybersecurity, and health. One of Ru's greatest passions is writing and performing music and poetry, and loves watching and playing sports. She is part of a writer's group in LA and is (very slowly) writing the script for a film.
