Gary Leo is a seasoned management and fundraising executive with more than 45 years of professional experience in institutional development for major non-profit organizations both nationally and internationally. A nationally recognized management and fundraising professional, Leo has created and implemented groundbreaking strategic plans, personally managed and supervised hundreds of senior professionals, and directed diverse programs and events involving both celebrities and philanthropic leaders. From 2004 to 2009, Leo held the position of president and chief executive officer of The ALS Association, the nation’s preeminent organization in the fight against Lou Gehrig’s disease. Under his leadership, The ALS Association grew from a $30 million to $50 million philanthropic organization. In addition, media as well as social media outreach. Prior to joining The ALS Association, Leo was senior vice president for community relations and development at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, the largest non-profit acute care academic medical center in the western United States. In addition, Leo previously served as national vice president and executive director of the Western Region of the American Society for Technion – Israel Institute of Technology, Israel’s oldest university and primary educator of engineers, scientists and medical professionals. Leo holds a master’s degree in social work administration from Rutgers University in New Jersey, a master’s degree in educational administration from New York University and a bachelor’s degree in economics from Queens College in New York.
