Bio

I graduated from San Jose State University with a degree in Psychology and began my career as a Social Worker in the juvenile justice system in San Mateo County in Northern California. Unfortunately, as my life progressed and I became interested in getting married and having a family, social work was not providing the income or security I needed. A friend told me about the Uniform and Corporate Apparel industry where I could work with major companies helping them express their brands through apparel or uniform programs.

I applied to join a small company in Los Angeles and helped them grow to become a uniform supplier to companies like McDonald's, United Airlines, Universal Studios and National Car Rental. Subsequently, I was recruited to Tailored Brands; the parent company of Men's Wearhouse and Jos A Bank to help run a uniform and corporate apparel division they had purchased. We were fortunate to be able to grow that business from less than nothing to nearly $100M in fourteen years serving clients like UPS, American Airlines, Chase Bank and many others.

I was recently recruited to become President of Clipper Corporation; running their Apparel Group which includes the Clipper and Lone Oak brands serving clients including Burger King worldwide, Darden Restaurants, Red Lobster, UPS and many others. One of the coolest parts of this business is the ability to work with key decision makers; many times it's the CEO or President, to interpret that client's image and brand voice in a clothing collection to be worn by their tens; sometimes hundreds of thousands of employees worldwide.

By the way, I never forgot about my original passion for Social Work and dealing with kids. I have volunteered in a variety of programs through the years including Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Options House; a shelter for runaway kids in Hollywood and Trauma Intervention Program; where a dedicated group of volunteers assist families who have suffered a traumatic loss in those first few hours immediately after the tragedy.

One of the bonuses of the volunteer work is that I met my wife at Options House. She was a fellow counselor!

So you can have it both ways! You can enjoy a wonderful enriching career and give back through giving to the community with volunteer hours.
